An Easy Way to Buy Group Christmas Gifts

Published by Loretta at 2:21 pm under Shopaholic!

If you’ve ever pitched in to buy a gift for someone, whether a coworker or a family member, you know how confusing it can sometimes get when the whole thing isn’t organized carefully. If you’ve ever been the money holder in that situation you know how completely stressful that can be!

Enter eDivvy.com Group Gift Program… it keeps you organized, makes it easy, and holds the money, taking the stressfulness out of the gift giving equation and we could all use a little less stress this time of year.

How does it all work? The organizer of the group starts the gift at eDivvy.com and sets up the details of what the event is, for example a gift for a baby shower or a wedding, and set a deadline for everyone to have pitched in for the gift. They then choose an item that the gift recipient might like to get and that would fit into the groups budget, such as a top of the line car seat, a beautiful crib, a china set for the new couple, etc… You get the idea!

Of course the events are only limited by your imagination here. There are plenty of gift giving guides on the site including gift ideas for christmas, so don’t feel limited by my example here. I’m just illustrating.

After you (the organizer) have selected a few items you think the gift recipient will enjoy for their special day, then you invite the group to pitch in. This is as easy as entering everyone’s email address. Now it’s time for the participants to do their share.

As a participant you’ll receive the email asking you to pitch in on the gift. You contribute the amount that you’re able to contribute and you sign the gift card! The nice thing here is that everyone can contribute a different amount, it doesn’t have to be all or nothing. I might contribute $20, Lisa might contribute $20, and Kevin might come along and throw in $42 just because he has the extra money this week. The amount is not set in stone.

After everyone has pitched in or passed on pitching in the gift is packaged up and shipped straight to the recipient from the merchant. You don’t even have to pick it up at the store, it just gets sent. Don’t worry, if you didn’t collect enough funds to send the gift you picked out, a Visa gift card can be sent for the person to use towards the purchase of the awesome gift or anything else that they might need.

Now, at first that might sound a little corny, but let’s say you’re Susie and you’re having a new baby. Baby stuff is expensive and this is after all the recession. The family gets together and talks about it on the phone, and Aunt Jane in Maryland wants to pitch in, but Susie lives in Wisconsin, Uncle Tom wants to help too, but he’s in Florida.

As the new mom to be would you rather get 3 small gift cards that you might not be able to use in one place or one big gift card that you can use anywhere? Of course the Visa gift card is a better choice, because you can use it however you need to. It just makes sense that way.

With the holidays coming up this month chances are you’re looking to buy gifts for all those special someones in your life. eDivvy has plenty of beautiful christmas gift ideas for her and rugged christmas gift ideas for him, and there’s options to fit all sorts of different gift giving budgets. Even if you’re looking to tighten your belt a little this season, you can still give a totally great gift. Anything beats a pink fuzzy bunny suit, right?
